Winter Adventures at Forever Resorts

Summer is nearly over and that means it’s time to start planning for the winter months. Many of our properties at Forever Resorts are closed during the winter season such as our Isle Royale Rock Harbor Lodge property and even our Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim, but we have quite a few locations that are perfect for a winter trip. Get ready to head out on a snowmobile, fishing trip, or guided tour with these Forever Resorts winter adventures.

Scenic Safaris in Yellowstone

Yellowstone is an extremely popular location during the summer and our teams in Jackson, Wyoming just had one of their busiest seasons with the solar eclipse passing in totality over the area. In the winter though, Jackson is the place to be. Our team at Scenic Safaris provides one of the most unique touring experiences of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in the winter with their snowmobile tour.

Take a full day to tour Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and even the Gros Ventre wilderness where you’ll have ample opportunity to spot wildlife that only comes around in the winter. If a snowmobile tour sounds a bit too chilly for you, Scenic Safaris also has their Old Faithful Snowcoach and Grand Teton Wildlife Luxury Van Tours. Make your winter adventure come to life with Scenic Safaris and visit their website to learn more about their various tours

Mormon Lake Lodge

If Yellowstone sounds just a bit too cold, then you may prefer a trip down to the Southwest where many of our properties live, including our very historic Mormon Lake Lodge near Flagstaff, Arizona. Before snow hits the ground in the winter, Mormon Lake is a great place to take some off-roading views of the area and to hike to see some of the more unique wildlife that you would usually miss in the summer, such as elk. If you’re looking to photograph or see some of the wildlife though, do be cautious and remember to keep a safe distance. Additionally, if you’re going to be in Arizona for Thanksgiving but don’t want to cook, head up to the lodge with your family and have an incredible feast made for you. Stay overnight for the weekend in one of our cabins and enjoy a Mormon Lake Lodge Tradition unlike any other. You can read more about their Thanksgiving festivities on their blog when you click here.

Perhaps you’re looking for more of an adventure while you’re up in Northern Arizona? Then after a good snowfall, rent a few snowmobiles at Mormon Lake Lodge. With weather permitting, snowmobiles are rentable and rideable at Mormon Lake when there’s at least 18 inches or more of snow on the ground. Once enough snow has fallen though, the Lake is your playground. The team at Mormon Lake will take you on a guided view of the area by snowmobile and you’ll be able to head back to the lodge for a warm cup of cocoa when you’re done.

Parry Lodge

If you've never had the chance to go visit Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah, this winter may be the perfect time for you to go. Sitting in the middle of four national parks and a variety of state parks, Kanab is the ideal setting for those who like to get out for an adventure. Zion, Bryce Canyon, the Wave, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and even the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary are a few places that you can visit while staying at Parry Lodge for a few days or even a week. Bryce Canyon in particular is a very unique site to see in the winter once the snow has fallen.

If you're interested in a guided tour, you can head across the street from Parry Lodge and take a trip with the team at Forever Adventure Tours. With weather permitting, you'll be able to explore everything from Peekaboo Canyon to the Wave to White Pockets. Be sure to explore their website to learn more about their different tours and be sure to call to get a customized quote for your trip.

Lake Powell

Take on the quiet waters of Lake Powell during the winter season and fish with an amazing view. Stop by Horseshoe Bend before making it to the lake for an amazing view like the one pictured to the left, with more to come once you make it to the lake.

This time of year is perfect for fisherman to get out to the water on one of our boat rentals for a day of calm fishing as the crowds usually come around more often during the summer months. You may even consider renting one of our houseboats and bringing the family with you to celebrate Thanksgiving or winter holidays on the water. Grill your turkey on the front of the boat with the grill that comes on your houseboat and prepare everything else inside with the stove and oven for your mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, and sweet potatoes. Once the meal is over, you can relax on the top deck with the views of Lake Powell or cozy up inside the salon and watch a movie or play board games with the family. No matter what you choose to do, a winter trip to Lake Powell is a unique one to remember.

Get outdoors this winter and see all that there is to see while beautiful blankets of snow are on the ground in Yellowstone, Arizona, and even Utah. Call our reservations specialists at 1-877-386-4383 to find the perfect winter adventure for you!
