Smile Spotlight: Meet Greg
Without our employees at Forever Resorts, we would be nothing. Everyone from our Managers to our Maintenance workers, and everyone in between, is a great asset to this company. Today, we would like to highlight one of those amazing employees in particular from our Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina location, Greg Carter, the Assistant General Manager for the Resort.
Greg has currently been working at Cottonwood for 8 years and says he loves every second of it. Prior to Cottonwood, Greg and his wife, Collette, used to manage other resorts in the Bighorn Mountains National Forest in Wyoming. They used to escape the cold weather for a trip on the water to boat and camp at Cottonwood Cove during their summer breaks. With the love they already had for Cottonwood Cove, when Greg and his wife were approached about taking over Cottonwood, they couldn’t say no.
Now 8 years later, Greg keeps busy wearing multiple hats every day to help keep everything running smooth. One of his primary duties is to act as the head company diver and trains all of the company divers on the California and Desert properties; currently, there are 24-25 divers at Forever Resorts to help manage all of the marinas.
When asked what his favorite things about working at Cottonwood Cove, he couldn’t help but mention the great convenience of a short walk to work as a plus, but said the number one thing that keeps him going everyday are the customers. Having the ability to live just across the street from Cottonwood is his favorite thing. He comes to work and meets customers that are always happy and energized to be there; it’s an energy that he loved to feed off of and it makes work fun. “We are here for the customers” and “it’s our job to keep a smile on their face,” which is made even better when guests are excited to get their vacation started.
In his spare time, Greg likes to cycle up into Black Canyon and up into the Hoover Dam. The greatest part of the ride happens just at daybreak once he is in the canyon as all of the birds are clung to the cliffs and are warming their wings to fly. Occasionally he even sees Bighorn Sheep on the ride as well.
An avid swimmer, in the summer months you can also catch Greg swimming and diving around the area. His skills as a diver have even managed to land him a spot on the Las Vegas Metro Search and Rescue swim and dive team that covers southern Utah, some of Nevada and Arizona. Greg kept track and swam approximately 28,000 yards and biked 450 miles last year.
Next time you head out to Lake Mead for a trip, be sure to say hello to Greg next time you are out at Cottonwood Cove!
