FOREVER RESORTS NORTHERN ARIZONA LODGE FEEDS HURRICANE RELIEF WORKERS

Over 64,000 Meals Have Been Served Under Extreme Conditions in New Orleans and Texas

Mormon Lake Lodge, Mobile Catering Unit helps out Hurricane Katrina Relief Workers

Phoenix, AZ - Within days of two powerful hurricanes devastating the Gulf Coast Forever Resorts' Mormon Lake Mobile Catering and a dedicated crew of 21 men and women from northern Arizona were driving to Louisiana with their 13 trucks and trailers to help relief worker efforts. Met in Dallas by the Forever Resorts' Southfork team where they loaded food supplies, the Mobile Catering Unit was assigned to the base camp at New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Stationed between terminal B and C on the airport tarmac for three weeks, Mormon Lake Mobile Catering provided meals for the Disaster Medical Assistance Teams and National Guard units supporting evacuees coming and going from the on-site field hospital at the airport. Base camps support the receiving and distribution of relief supplies, and volunteer coordination. Relief crews were engaged in road clearing, community assistance and supporting search and rescue work.

The small catering crew from Mormon Lake provided 4,500 boxed lunches a day to relief workers and by the end of September had served over 64,000 meals. Assembly of the lunches was a team effort. When working at capacity, the Mobile Catering assembly team could make up to 600 boxed lunches in an hour.

Because fresh food supplies were drastically limited, trucks from one of the Forever family of companies, Forever Living Products' Aloe Vera of America, assisted in providing supplies from a food purveyor in Fort Worth, TX. Every 4 days, 10,000 pounds of food was delivered by refrigerated semi truck to Mormon Lake Mobile Catering for distribution. On average each food transport included: 18,000 pieces of fruit; 3,375 pounds of sliced meat; 36,000 slices of bread; 18,000 cans of juice; 2,250 pounds of cookies and 2,100 pounds of snacks.

Prior to the onslaught of the second hurricane to hit the Gulf region in less than a month the Mobile Catering Unit was relocated to St. Gabriel, Louisiana, 12 miles south of Baton Rouge. It was at this staging area where they were hit by Hurricane Rita.

Scott Gold, general manager of Mormon Lake Lodge had insisted the operation be set up on an asphalt surface instead of gravel where they were originally assigned. The heavy trucks were circled around their motor home and crew trailer. It was a good thing, for when Rita hit, structures setting on gravel were heavily damaged or blown away. Gold felt this saved his operation as the stormed raged for 11 hours.

During the hurricane the crew took a vote as to whether they should move to a safer area or stay and be ready to serve as soon as the storm passed. They voted to stay and were immediately serving meals when the storm subsided.

Gold and the Mobile Catering crew were then dispatched to Beaumont, Texas and are currently stationed at the Ford Park base camp. Serving three hot meals a day to over 1400 relief workers Mormon Lake Mobile Catering doesn't know how long they will be needed.

In addition to providing food transportation for the catering unit Forever Living Products coordinated a massive effort to provide assistance to evacuees with a donation of over $450,000 worth of personal care products: Aloe Liquid Soap, Forever Bright Toothgel, Aloe Evershield Deodorant, Aloe Moisturizing Lotion, and Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo and 10,000 personal hygiene kits. The kits were distributed through the Red Cross and other local charities.

Executive vice president of Aloe Vera of America, Don Calhoun stated, "We were glad we were able to help Forever Resorts when they needed it in New Orleans and in Texas. Mormon Lake Mobile Catering is doing all the hard work. We're happy we could be of assistance."

Under contract with the U.S. Forest Service Forever Resorts' Mormon Lake Mobile Catering was called upon to feed fire fighters during three forest fires through the summer of 2005. And in 2004, the Mobile Catering Unit was requested by FEMA to provide hot meals to thousands of Floridians displaced by Hurricane Frances and Ivan. Mormon Lake Mobile Catering's state-of-the-art equipment was originally designed to assist during forest fires in northern Arizona and can serve hot and cold meals at local or remote locations for days, weeks or months.
